I figured it was about time I gave you some updates on our family. I've been using this blog as a tool to document things and feel like my kids as well as Andrew and I's life have kinda taken a back seat to this upcoming baby!
Tatum has started school. She loves it thus far and and so do I. Her teacher sends home her homework for the ENTIRE WEEK. What I like about this is, I always know what is going on and that if there is a really busy day, (IE.. Wednesdays), we can double up on Tuesdays without running out of time and trying like crazy to rush through Wednesday's homework. So far they have been very basic assignments and I am sure they will get more involved. For right now this works.
Tatum has brought home a HERO card already for being a good helper and a student of the day for giving another student half her cookie since there wasn't enough to go around. She is such a good person. Her heart is so full. She loves to help other people. She is so compassionate. She has made some new friends which I am so thankful for. Not that we don't want her keeping her old friends, but Andrew and I just wanted to make sure she knew that other kids to exist. She is very happy that her friend, Layla, from church is attending the 1st grade an is in her class.
We have officially started soccer and Awana for both kids. Tatum's team looks very good. She seems to be happy with it and is taking all the soccer skills she learned from camp this summer with her. The last few practices have been hot, but we are thankful the weather is cooling down. Beckett starts next week. Saturday's for the next few weeks will be tiring I am sure. I am NOT sure what we were thinking, except maybe we wanted to give Beckett every advantage that Tatum had.
Awana has just started and I cannot even begin to tell you how excited the kids were. Andrew picked up Beckett and fed him dinner before meeting us at the church. Tatum had soccer practice so she had to eat her dinner in the car. It was Beckett's first time as a Cubbie. We dropped him off in his room and then took Tatum to her room, where of course, her friend Ellie was waiting for her. I didn't even get a goodbye or a kiss...WOW. We walked back up to Beckett's room to check on him before leaving and he was already having fun playing with tinker toys.
Since we didn't have the kids, and baby #3 wasn't acting like he/she was making an appearance anytime soon, Andrew and I took advantage of this and went out to dinner. He had been wanting to go to Mongolian BBQ for years...( I don't really like it) so I suggested this to him...knowing full well they had a salad bar and I had a doctors appointment the following morning. After dinner and getting in the car, he casually mentioned it wasn't as good as he remembered and we can cross it off our going back to dinner list. LOL. I love my husband.
We have been working hard on getting the house refinanced due to all the changes and potential changes in our future. We got rid of the 15+ year old couches in our family room and made that into a play room for the kids. We took down the old blinds and curtains and Andrew purchased new ones. We picked up old toys and donated them as well as binned up most of the newer toys and left strict instructions as to where those toys should be. We have shampoo'd most of the carpet (looks SO much better)!! Please pray for us that our appraisal (coming up on Friday) goes well. We could really use some extra cash in our hands.
Beckett has been driving us NUTS. He seems to be all hyper and wired up. I am not sure if this is a phase or if he is really struggling. We are trying to give each kid extra attention but he just makes it so hard. He is hard to please, isn't listening worth a darn and just so quick to be so mean. He and Tatum are all over each other constantly. He is pushing and shoving and being aggressive. So not the little boy he was just a few short months ago. He have punishments put into place but he is very testy. He seems to be in time out more often than not. I am glad he has Cubbies and soccer. I am hoping these will be good outlets for him AND my baby boy starts Preschool in ONE WEEK (stay tuned for that one). Prayer is also accepted for this as well as his behavior. We are just not used to this type of behavior. I know not all kids are the same and we shouldn't expect it to be!
My doctor's appointments have been very good. Baby is due in 12 days. I honestly pray that he/she comes much sooner. I am ready for my baby. I am ready for our lives to get back to a little normalcy. I want my body back (not that it was all that to begin with) but I miss my running and being able to wear my exercise clothes.
Andrew has been taking care of everything here. He is a cleaning machine. Some of which is due to the refinance and some due to the baby. I just can't do it all anymore. My body tells me when to shut down. He is an awesome husband. He has given up so much for us lately. My hope is that once the baby comes he will be able to continue to the things that he loves like getting to the library for his research. I never want to have him give up those things.
I think that is about it...until next time:)
