A Star in the Making

Wow. I have had a lot of "stars" in my posts lately. Maybe this is because my kids are doing so well.

This is Beckett's first year of preschool. We were understandably concerned to send him as he is on the younger side (he has a January birthday) and with the new baby and our potty training issues we weren't sure we were making the best decision.

Beckett had been potty trained as of December 2010. We made it months (until March) with NO incidents. We were thrilled. When I started showing (March/April) and he realized this baby was more of a reality he started regressing and we were having daily and sometimes more accidents. This was upsetting everyone, including our babysitter. We also really needed a push on this because in Ohio you can't attend any preschool unless you are 100% potty trained.

Well, summer went by rather quickly and we were still having problems. September finally rolled around and school began. Beckett had a late start and began on Sept 12th. We made it through the first day at school with no issues. Hallelujah!! Then our daughter was born on September 14th. I went into labor on the 13th so we got Beckett off to school and I stayed home to labor. (That is another story which you can read here). So we had exactly 48 hours to get him acclimated to school before another thing came to uproot his life.

He didn't take to well to Finley at first. We know he loves her as he says it all the time. He was very loud and abrupt around her. He was also very rough. But, boys will be boys.

However, five weeks have now passed and each week we get a better report from school. We've had no incidents. He is minding his manners. He is learning his letters and how they sound. He is making new friends (6 to be exact), and learning new skills. He loves to scissor and paste. He doesn't like to color and certainly not within the lines:) He LOVES his gymnastics class and can already to a flip on the rings. He is minding his teacher. These are the reports that make him a "star". Not only in his teachers eyes but in ours as well.

As parents, you always dream big for your kids. Beckett is no exception. We know he is destined for big things and we have no doubt that he is on the right track. Even if we were off to a rough start.

Congratulations on a first big month son! You have made us all proud. You are growing in so many ways and we are starting to see that more and more with each passing day. You are a great big brother to Finley and a great brother to Tatum. They are so lucky to have you. No doubt you will be their protector. We can see that plain as day.

Keep up the star quality work my love!

I adore him...do I say that too often? So glad to hear he's adjusting well!
