Four months old...
I can hardly believe we are here. How fleeting this baby time has been. I feel like you were just born and with the struggles we have had this month-it feels just like that.
Daddy and I are trying to determine if you are indeed teething. Everything into the mouth. Drool, everywhere. Soaked clothes and were changing clothes like crazy (sometimes up to three times a day). You are however, chatting our ears off. It is like sweet, sweet music. Because just a few short weeks ago, you did nothing but cry.
Cry? This is because you have a little know disease called Reflux. Very common in infants, however, usually outgrown within the first three or four months. We had you on Zantac and while this worked for awhile, we noticed you were starting to take a turn for the worse and very quickly. The meds seemed to stop working and your pain was much more noticeable. We took you back to the doctor and she quickly confirmed your reflux diagnosis and put you on another med. She said we should start seeing a difference as quickly as the first or second dose. Boy was she right. You are like a completely different baby. Your crying spells are that of a typical infant, you know, change me, play with me, love on me, I'm tired or I'm hungry. They are not whaled or painful. And now that you are not longer in pain you are gaining so much.
Your giggling and smiling and laughing more--and more at other people. Yep, these things are no longer just designated for mommy. Everyone gets them.
You love to chew on your hands and you are starting to find your feet. You love when we play peek a boo and patty cake with your feet. You love to have your little toes wiggled with those Piggies that go to the "market". You are doing a lot more tummy time and holding your head and chest up so well. You are trying to roll --getting over to your side and then you fall right back over. It's so good to see.
You are growing by leaps and bounds. I feel like we just got you out of your 0-3 month clothes but you are almost to tall for your 3-6. Some are better than others.
You still required to be swaddled to sleep but we are going to start working on that this week. I am sure everyone will be thrilled with what little sleep they will be getting. Speaking of...you don't every sleep. Go to bed...sleepyhead. You are such a cat napper. Your little bouts of 20 minutes here, 10 minutes there just wont fly with me..but they seem to keep you in ok spirits. You used to sleep through the night but you don't seem to be doing that anymore either. Your changing though. Instead of 10-11 at night you know start your fusses at 830 and like to be in bed by 930. You are then up again around 1 to eat and then up again at 5 or 6. I'm not sure how to perceive this. I just roll with it. :)
We love you sweet-pea. Keep growing. Keep smiling. Good things are yet to come for you. By 5 months, I project we will see a tooth and report you finally rolling over:)
Love,
mommy
