Beckett 4th Birthday Party

We started the year off right with celebrating Beckett's 4th birthday. We did celebrate as a family on his day but wanted to make sure to give him a party. We had invited all his preschool class but only one kid showed up (and we didn't even know he was coming)...and we also invited one little boy from his Awana class. We decided not to have a luncheon this year due to having one just two weeks earlier for Finley's dedication so we had cake and ice cream and snacky type foods.

The theme was firetrucks. He loves them. He got some cool new ones for Christmas and they have been some of his favorite go too toys. I took him to the Party store to pick out whatever invitations he wanted and this is what he chose.

Aren't the cute? So we got the whole get up for him. I was a little upset that no one was coming but then kinda relieved since I had never had a birthday party at home and wasn't at all prepared. He seemed to have a great time with his two little buddies, the neighbor kids and his favorite cousins, Sam and Mila.

His cake was awesome. I asked the ladies at Kroger if they could do a firetruck out of cupcakes. She said she wasn't sure but would try really hard. Hard she did. The cake was too cute for words and we ordered just enough.

After the cake, we let the kids play for a little bit longer and then called them up to open gifts. Beckett was very excited and got a lot of very cool toys. (Note to self...thank you cards need to be completed and sent out). UGH... Thank you to Brian who took the pictures so that I could enjoy these moments with my son!

Finley FIVE months

Wow oh wow...5 months old...and Happy 1st Valentines Day little one!

So much is going on in your fifth month. You are finally starting to sleep more. I didn't think that was ever going to happen. We went so long without any sleep that now if you sleep longer than 4 hours, we think of it as a miracle. You still take a few cat naps during the day, and are not on any type of schedule.

You are starting to blow raspberries, make some consonant noises (nnnnnaaaa.mmmmmmm...dddddd) and you found your feet. You have mastered rolling over and I've heard (but I've not seen) that you can roll from tummy to back. You love putting anything in your mouth and kicking your legs.

I can start to see a glimps of your personality come through. You love taking things in. You are very alert and hate to miss anything. You LOVE getting attention and make it known when you are NOT the center of it. You do not like to be left alone to entertain yourself--hopefully this will change in time. You love your mommy but you save your biggest smiles for when daddy walks in the door from work.

You love playing with your brother and sister and they continue to adore you. They love when you smile and interact with them and it to this day still surprises Beckett and he loves to tell us, "mom, Finley gave me a smile this morning".  They both take such good care of you.

You still wont take a bottle and I think we have given up on this--we are going to move onto a sippy cup. You started taking cereal (brown rice) but don't really like it..but then again, you don't like bananas either. What kind of baby doesn't like bananas. So, until you let me know you are ready to eat, I think we will stick to some baby led weaning when it comes to food.

I'm going to guess you weight about 13.5 lbs and you are certainly longer. I bet by this time next month, you will have mastered sitting up:) We cannot wait to see what the next half of your first year of life holds!

Finley Dedication

Two weeks ago we dedicated Finley at our right to life celebration at church. I was a little nervous as we dedicated our other children at our previous church. I wanted to have equal experiences! It was a very nice service. We dedicated in front of all our family and church friends. After the ceremony we had several people come up and pray over us. It was very nice!

Afterwards we hosted a small celebratory luncheon. Everyone was there to celebrate you!
